The Barceló Group was founded in 1931 by Simón Barceló. What began as a family business in the small town of Felanitx, specialising in commercial and goods transport, is now one of the world's leading tourism companies.

 

With more than 85 years of experience and three generations of the Barceló family at the helm, the company now employs 33,000 people around the world Its two main business areas are hospitality and travel (retail and receptive). However, as its history shows, the Mallorcan group is characterised by its commitment to innovation and the diversification of its activities in the market. 

2001

100 hotels

On the occasion of its 70th anniversary, the Barceló Hotel Group reaches the figure of 100 hotels, making it one of the largest hotel groups in Spain. The Barceló Bávaro Convention Centre in Playa Bávaro (Dominican Republic), the most modern convention centre in the country and one of the most important in Latin America and the Caribbean, stands out in the context of the group's expansion in Spain and Latin America. 

2014

The US, a country apart

The Barceló Hotel Group sells part of Barceló Crestline, its subsidiary in the United States, retaining 40% of its shares. After this transaction, the group's communication changes: the chain has 95 hotels in 16 countries and, indirectly, another 74 in the United States. 

Commitment to digitalisation

The chain's entry into the world of social media results in it winning the TNS Fanpage Spain award for the Best Facebook Page in the Tourism, Travel and Hotels category, confirming its commitment to digitalisation.
